CTE Appreciation Month (Fire Science)
The Fire Fighter course is designed to provide the student with basic firefighting skills. It gives an understanding of fire department operations, equipment, and procedures. The course follows both the California State Fire Marshall Fire Fighter 1 and Essentials of Fire Fighting. The course consists of both classroom and manipulative assignments. Emphasis on attitude, teamwork, self-confidence, quick thinking and the ability to follow exact instructions will be stressed through textbook assignments and practical tasks. The course is designed to help the student secure employment in the fire service by developing their educational base, experience, and confidence in the fire fighting field and giving the student the basic required college credits to get into a fire academy. Classes are taught at the high school and at the Linden-Peters Fire Department.
